Aqua Vitea cultivates health one beverage at a time. The name is a play on the Latin expression In aqua vitae veritas, or “in living water there is truth.” We brew Kombucha, a fermented beverage made from tea, sugar, water, and a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY) that has been revered for centuries for its life enhancing qualities. The husband-brewer/wife-Naturopathic physician duo behind Aqua Vitea continue the tradition by integrating the science of fermentation with the philosophy of Naturopathic medicine. Our Kombucha is available in health food stores, restaurants, bars, and cafes—both on tap and in bottles—throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic states.

    We are committed to encouraging healthy patterns of consumption by offering the finest quality products that have a positive effect on individual and community health. We make a positive difference in the food consumption and lifestyle choices of our employees and community members. Our committment to sourcing ingredients locally contributes to a vibrant local economy. Owner Jeff Weaber recently participated in a "Financing the Working Landscape" seminar organized aimed to help other small business start-ups in our county discover financing options.

  • Environment

    We work to build and support sustainable business practices, including utilizing green energy, relationship marketing, producing exclusively for local, regional and national markets, and sourcing local products whenever possible. We are the first company in the nation to offer Kombucha from self-serve, in-store fountains, making us less dependent on bottle use. 70-80% of our product goes into kegs. As people become accustomed to bringing their containers to the store for refills, they're essentially assuming packaging responsibilities and reducing waste.

    Our flavor Hibiscus Ginger Lime was inspired by local artist Rory Jackson, who regularly travels to Ghana to work with students at the Trinity Yard School ( on arts-oriented skills training. The flavor was modeled after a traditional West African tea called "bissap" made from hibiscus flowers. For the next three years, we will donate a percentage of Hibiscus Ginger Lime sales to TYS graduate Bismark Cudjoe in support of a long-term batik apprenticeship in Accra.
