  • Community

In 2014 alone, more than 33,000 consumers had their water shut off due to the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history. Through the Detroit Water Project, donations are made to the nonprofit and then used to directly pay overdue and verified water bills of Detroit residents lacking resources to pay themselves.

  • Social

The program brings a creative crowdsource approach to solving a problem for residents in need in the city of Detroit (and beginning in Baltimore as well). Donors are matched with real individuals in need of help and can either pay their entire water balance or a portion of it.
